Edward DeWees, III

Edward DeWees, IIIEdward DeWees, III is the founder and co-chairman of the tournament and is carrying on a family legacy in philanthropy by supporting the children of Respite Care. Edward has been on the Board of Directors for Respite Care since 2006.

A graduate of Alamo Heights High School and attended the University of Incarnate Word where he is now on the Board of Directors. Mr. DeWees is active in his church, First Presbyterian where he teaches his daughters 4th grade Sunday school class. Through his church he volunteers for the CAM shelter, the SAMM's shelter and Habitat for Humanity. He is also a member of The ARC of TX Gala committee.

Edward has been with SWBC Mortgage for the last 10 years and is also an Advisor to Incyte Ventures, a privately held Venture capital firm based in San Antonio Tx., Birmingham Al. and Golden Co. where his main focus is in bio medical investments.

Among his greatest accomplishments are his marriage to Robin and his two children. Edward coaches his son's baseball team and is very active in the children's schools.

Robin Hatfield DeWees

Robin Hatfield DeWeesRobin Hatfield DeWees, a graduate of the University of Texas Arlington, is a Senior Partnership Executive for Harland Clarke Inc., responsible for the southwest region of Texas. She comes to San Antonio by way of Weatherford Texas, Austin, California and back to Austin where she met her husband Edward. They have been married for 11 yrs and have two children, Camille (9) and Bo (7).

Robin is an active member of the Battle of Flowers Association, Laurel Heights Garden Club, Los Compadres Committee, San Antonio Junior League Sustainer, CAMM Ministries and First Presbyterian Church where she is Sunday School teacher and VBS volunteer.

Robin caught the same passion for the Respite Care organization that her husband felt 11 yrs ago when he decided to find a way to "serve his community and honor his grandfather.

"When we did our first tournament nine years ago, my husband and I sat in bed and addressed invitations for a few friends to play golf and help raise a little bit of money," said Robin. "I never imagined this little gesture would turn into this fabulous event benefiting so many wonderful children...a true blessing!

Aaron Bengochea

Aaron BengocheaAaron Bengochea is a former PGA Tour Player (2000) and a sales representative for Presidio Title. Aaron graduated from the University of the Pacific and is married to Kristin with three children, Sophie (8), and Ethan (6) and Chloe (19 mos.).

 


Phil Nelson

Phil Nelson Philip E. Nelson “Phil”, Senior Vice President and Manager of Compass Bank’s San Antonio Commercial Real Estate Group, has over 40 years of experience in the local market. After heading the San Antonio Commercial Real Estate Lending for a national financial institution, Phil joined BBVA Compass Bank in 1999. Phil graduated from Southern Methodist University’s Graduate School of Banking in 1980.
A native of San Antonio, Phil is involved in a number of community affairs. He is a board member and assistant treasurer of Respite Care of San Antonio, a member of the advisory board for UTSA Athletics, former Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the San Antonio Housing Authority and past President of both the Alamo Kiwanis Club and the Highlands Rotary Club. Phil and his wife Theresa have been married for over 40 years and parents of three grown children who have provided five grandchildren for them to spoil.

Bert Pfiester

Bert Pfiester Bert Pfiester is the President/CEO of Respite Care of San Antonio. The best part of his job is “watching children grow and discover the world around them”. Bert has been with Respite Care for nine years. Bert retired from AT&T as the General Manager of External Affairs after a 26 year career. Respite Care is celebrating its 22nd year of providing services to children with special needs. “We currently are experiencing tremendous demand to provide specialized care for children that have been victims of abuse or neglect from throughout the state”. To respond to the needs of children in crisis, Respite Care will soon double it’s capacity to provide a safe haven for children and to expand their continuum of care. Bert is a single parent to Christopher (11), Jennifer (10) and Brian (9). Family time together is often joining with children that are residents in the emergency shelter for a weekend field trip for visits to the San Antonio Zoo, recently opened Morgan’s Wonderland as well as the Witte Museum.

Louie Rubiola

Louie Rubiola Louie Rubiola is a Director of Finance at Tesoro Corporation, where he has worked for the past five years. Prior to joining Tesoro, Louie worked in the Mergers & Acquisitions group of SBC Communications. Louie recently joined the Respite Care of San Antonio’s Board of Directors in 2009. He is an undergraduate of The University of Texas at Austin and has a graduate degree from Texas Christian University. Louie grew up in San Antonio, has been married for ten years, and has been blessed with two young daughters.

Lance Surovik

Lance Surovik Lance Surovik is a Certified Residential Appraiser and partner with Capitol Valuation Group, covering central Texas and the IH-35 corridor from Georgetown to Lytle. Previously, Lance was with Verappraise as the lead appraiser for the San Antonio office. Lance volunteers as a little league coach for Alamo Heights Little league.

Another Texas A&M graduate, Lance enjoys outdoor activities such as hunting and golfing.
